Ship specifications Kairos

 Design

The ship was designed in the Netherlands by “Lunstroo Custom Designs” in Amsterdam in 1976. The ships original name was Lone Gull. In 2019 it was renamed Kairos. It was designed to accommodate long ocean voyages. It has been designed to carry several tons of extra weight without influencing the seaworthiness and sailing qualities. The cruising speed is 4-8 knots. The ship navigates with an over 2.5 meter high rudder with helm. The ship has a long keel and 2500 KG of lead ballast.

 

Built
In 1978 the ship was built (to last) by a Dutch yachtbuilding company “Jachtbouw Gorredijk” It was built using 5 mm steel for the hull and 10 mm steel for the keel. The interior has been built by “Wilja Grouw” with durable mahogany wood in light and dark contrasts. The ship has been built to accommodate 7 people: 4 in the front, 2 in the center, 1 in the back. The main area has standing height of over 2 meters. The ship has an empty weight of 10 tons. The ship is 10.04 meter long and 3.36 meter wide. The drought is 1.50 meter. The engine has been replaced for a new one in the year 2000 for a Vetus 52 HP 4 cylinder diesel engine which has about 800 hours (2018). The keel of the ship serves for storage of fuel and water.

 

 

 

 

 

Refit 2018-2019-2020

In 2018 The ship was shot blasted and repainted. Also the mast and rigging were replaced to fit modern standards. A composite deckhose was placed. All windows were replaced by 10 mm polycarbonate bulletproof glass.2 solar panels were placed. All water valves were replaced.

Update 2016 

In 2016 the ship was equipped with a Raymarine C70 Rada. A second computer was added to serve as a chart plotter.
